In today’s society, social media plays not only a huge role in social engagement but in wellness as well. Technology continues to increase over time, and many innovations are constantly being made to increase health awareness. In the video ‘Wearable Technology in Healthcare’ it goes on to explain the advantages of health oriented wearable technology. The most intriguing aspect is that, with wearable technology, doctors can monitor their patients and review their activity without needing to make an appointment with them. They can monitor such things as step count (or how much movement someone is doing in a day) and even someones heart rate. This is helpful because doctors can see the trends of their patient which can give them a better insight of their health. Overall this can reduce healthcare costs and restructure how preventive medicine is carried out. The video explains only 25.1% of adults use either a fitness tracker or app that tracks their health. There would be more adults willing to use wearable health gadgets if they could receive lower health premiums.

People and Companies are starting to realize the importance of technology and the abilities/enhances it can provide. Not only is technology great for a businesses exposure, its also great for communication and partnerships.

Many people already check their social media during work so some businesses are looking at that as leverage. According to Eric Miann in the RALLY HEALTH article he states, “Most of your employees are already checking Facebook at work. Why not leverage Facebook’s popularity and turn it into a powerful intranet that people will actually use” He has a very good point, the world is run on technology and people seem to hold on to the past fearing it.Yes technology has its downsides such as distractions and addictions. However, technology can be a huge improvement and innovation to a company/business.

Miann also discusses the leverage on instant chatting. The ability to communicate with others all around the world and share your views and ideas can help make a business grow and expand. He supports his claim by involving video chat. This will save time and enable businesses to connect with possible partners all around the world.
